Overview

The purpose of the Functional and Technical Trainer is to deliver Skills Plans and strategic business training initiatives that build functional and technical competence, strengthen operational execution, and support improved customer outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or Advanced Diploma
  • Teaching (tertiary level) or equivalent qualification preferred
  • Store Manager/Group Head experience within a store environment (advantageous)
  • Strong Store Operations experience with sound knowledge and practical application of operational processes, controls, compliance requirements, and risk management
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching, facilitation, training, or people development
  • SETA Assessor and/or Moderator accreditation advantageous
  • Sound digital literacy and confidence in using business and learning technologies
  • Valid Driver’s licence (code 8)
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel as required
  • Strong planning, organizing, and implementation skills
  • Communication & engagement skills
  • Facilitation and presentation skills
  • Understanding and experience of managing retail operational processes in corporate stores
  • Ability to operate at a systemic and operational level

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver skills plan and strategic business initiatives using engaging, practical, and experiential learning approaches.
  • Support new and refurbished stores, operational projects, systems, and business initiatives by delivering required capability interventions.
  • Coach and assess learners, provide meaningful feedback, and support the learning journey.
  • Partner with Regional Managers, Store Managers, HR, L&D, and other key stakeholders to understand and respond to capability needs.
  • Use learner feedback, attendance, assessment results, and operational insights to understand capability gaps and measure learning effectiveness.
  • Provide constructive feedback on learning content, methodologies, and assessments.
  • Energise and motivate learners when delivering training.
  • Stay informed on current and new initiatives, company policies, and procedures.
  • Embrace digital tools, learning technologies, and innovative approaches to create effective learning experiences.
